Genuinely Helping someone brings so much joy. A joy that can’t be counterfeited. Do you know why? Because helping others is the Father’s heartbeat.
Ignoring the needs of others is ignoring God! He’s helped us so that we can be helping hands to others. To facilitate this, He gave us the Holy Spirit who is the Paraclete- Helper, Comforter, Strengthener, Standby, Advocate and Intercessor.
Given that the Helper we’ve received is divine, with the above background, I learned through the ministry of the Holy Spirit that beyond physical assistance you offer spiritual help which far exceeds the former. Because LIFE IS SPIRITUAL. Oh yes, it is!
This is Part Two of a short series. To better connect the dots and get a really good understand, You may want to read Part One HERE!
Firstly, it’s important to note that when you offer physical help such as giving out things, foodstuffs, products, and services that are very good, they have a short life span. They are ephemeral; they get FINISHED or exhausted at some point.
Hence it’s best to offer physical help and continue by PRAYING for the one you helped. This way you get to have a lasting impact.
The reason for offering SPIRITUAL help as well is because man is first a spirit being. One of the ways of offering spiritual help is by sharing The Word Of God with the person.
The Word of God is the mirror of God (2 Cor 3:18) through it we are transfigured more like the messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become more like Him.
In addition to that, the word of God is food to the human spirit.
See how important God’s word is to the human spirit and how it must be treasured.
Job speaking said, “…I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food” ( Job 23:12).
Jesus said, “It takes more than bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God’s mouth” (Matthew 4:4 MSG).
That which is of the natural realm compared to the things of the Spirit is no help at all. That’s why Jesus went on to say, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63).
The word of God is a Spirit-Word and life-making, so to speak.
When a person continuously feeds (study) God’s Word, they are transformed by renewing their minds (Rom 12:2). It is an inside-out transformation. The life of the Word is from within; regenerating the spirit man and sanctifying the soul (will, intellect, and emotions).
Moreover, voracious studying (chewing) and intake (meditation) of the word BUILDS your life on the STRONGEST FOUNDATION (Acts 20:32 says “ And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace, which can BUILD YOU UP…”.
This will now bring growth and they can in turn OFFER HELP and BE SELFLESS because of the Word of God and the Ministry of the Holy Spirit.
In addition, through the Word you get to know who you truly are; your In-Christ identity, and as you learn to Do the Word (Matt 7: 24-25), you bear fruit; more, rich, excellent, and long-lasting fruit proving you are a disciple of Christ.
Let’s talk a little bit about selflessness which is one of the attributes of the Holy Spirit.
In Genesis chapters 1 &2 we are shown that God created Heaven and the Earth. He created Adam and Eve and they made the mistake in the garden by listening to the devil’s voice.
So, after Adam messed up, God would have decided to leave him alone to sort out the mess he had made. But He (God) still went out of His way by sending Jesus Christ to come and die for us.
In John 12:24 Jesus states “I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone but if it dies, it PRODUCES MUCH GRAIN”.
This shows that God will indeed be happy when we are happy, He’s not thinking about Himself. He’s intentional in His love towards us and being “mind-full” of us. How amazing!
The person who inspired me to write these thoughts is the Holy Spirit. He teaches and reveals to us the deep things of God.
He’s the one putting His thoughts in my heart, This shows how important the Ministry of the Holy Spirit is.
Thank you for Patiently Reading this Article. Cling to the Holy Spirit and be a proof producer of God’s word.
Have a great day
